Inspired by the Colorado Rockies, the architecture of the new home I built six years ago on Pretty Lake is a mountain lodge style. Although I love the rustic elements, I wanted a contemporary interior that combined comfort and sophistication. That was when I found Barbara, and our long-standing creative partnership began. She was able to put her extensive experience to work in creating a truly one of a kind interior that was subsequently featured on the cover of HouseTrends in February 2004. After that highly successful collaboration - my company, RDC DEVELOPMENT, retained Barbara to design the interiors of over 10 sales models, as well as the Clubhouses, for several different large-scale condominium developments. Barbara created the "wow" for every one of the models by her choice of bold colors and dramatic use of accessories while creating the feel of spaciousness in relatively small spaces - and staying within my budget! Barbara's truly the complete package as a designer.

Our family has worked with Barbara Krai for the past 2 years developing a truly private sanctuary in our home. She has been most attentive to our many special requests for creating a magical peaceful place for our family to play and relax. We worked with interior designer Barbara Krai for over two years as we were building our 6,000 square foot home in Avila.. Barbara’s guidance and expertise made this two-year process an enjoyable one. Her easy nature, incredible listening skills and knowledge of fabric, furniture design and lighting brought our architectural drawings to life. We gave her a few guidelines (color choices and use of some existing pieces of furniture), and she created exactly what we desired. In our eyes, our home is truly a livable, comfortable masterpiece, and we have Barbara to thank.

Having worked with Barbara over the past four years on numerous design projects throughout our home, we've learned what "custom design" really means. On our first project, our two story entry hall, the result was an award winning design featuring a spectacular mural which she designed. Whether managing a complete renovation project, or working on finer details, her creative breadth and painstaking attention to detail make her a unique design resource. I have had the pleasure of working with Barbara over the course of five years - Whether choosing wallpaper, or finding just the right combination of fabrics, Barbara came through for me with just the right look. In some cases she brought samples to me, or referred me to a website for a new idea, but my favorite has been our shopping trips that often included a pleasant lunch to talk over progress on our current project. I am most pleased with the new look on my lanai. Barbara introduced me to some unique glass tiles bringing character, color and personality to the space. I love to show it off to guests and enjoy spending more time relaxing in such a pretty space. I couldn’t be more pleased and am looking forward to working again with Barbara on my next project.
